Junior Stenographer:

  • Must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) from a recognized board.

Junior Secretariat Assistant (General, F&A, S&P):

  • Must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) from a recognized board.
  • Proficiency in typing with a speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi on a computer.

  • Junior Stenographer: 18 to 27 years
  • Junior Secretariat Assistant: 18 to 28 years

CSIR CRRI Selection Process 2025

  • Standard of Exam: 10+2 / XII
  • Medium of Language: English and Hindi 
  • No. of Questions: 200 
  • Total Marks: 200 (One marks for every correct answer) 
  • Total Time Duration: 2 hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribe) 
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 questions - 50 marks  
  • General Awareness: 50 questions - 50 marks  
  • English Language & Comprehension: 50 questions - 50 marks  

Stage 2: Stenography Skill Test (Qualifying in Nature) 

Candidates must qualify for a stenography test to proceed further.

Speed Requirement: 

  • English: 50 words per minute (70 for the candidates eligible for scribe)
  • Hindi: 65 words per minute (90 for the candidates eligible for scribe) 


The test assesses the candidate's ability to transcribe a dictated passage accurately within a stipulated time. 

Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) 

The selection process for the Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) consists of a written examination with two papers followed by a computer typing speed test. 

Stage 1: Written Examination (Objective Type) 

Paper-1

  • Mode of Exam: CBT or OMR 
  • Type of Questions: Objective (MCQ) type 
  • Standard of Exam: 10+2 / XII
  • Medium of Language: English and Hindi 
  • No. of Questions: 100 
  • Total Marks: 200 (Two marks for every correct answer) 
  • Total Time Duration: 90 minutes 
  • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marks in this paper

  • Mental Ability Test: 100 questions - 200 marks  

Paper-2

  • Mode of Exam: CBT or OMR 
  • Type of Questions: Objective (MCQ) type 
  • Standard of Exam: 10+2 / XII

  • Total Marks: 300 (Three marks for every correct answer)
